I’ve begun taking a traditional photography class and it has done wonders for my depression. There is something to be said for physical film. The feeling of control and the soothing connection to the resulting photo. It’s not just a means to an end, it is the art of examining life and the control of developing the photo. Designed to share a point of view, the camera helps to focus the mind not just the world around you. And black and white film aids in viewing the world differently. Which is a necessity when one is depressed. If you can learn to view the world differently, perhaps it will look a little better.
